Fort Osage National Historic Site and the Federalist Ladies Sewing Circle are sponsoring a hands-on Women's History Weekend, March 13 & 14, 2010. This immersion event is to educate about women in the Early Republic era, including their clothing and activities, including Native American. The event includes a combination of lectures and hands-on workshops. Please be aware that this is an immersion event and wearing period clothing is required. Anyone interested in participating in the War of 1812 Bicentennial should consider attending. The registration fee is $20 and includes 5 meals and extra food for the entertainment on Saturday evening. There are still some beds available in the barracks, otherwise you are welcome to set up your own tent (period of course). Local motels are off I-70. The 1st US Infantry and Missouri Rangers will be holding a drill and fatigue weekend in conjunction with our event.
