Canadian Art Cards has partnered with the Niagara 1812 Legacy Council to commemorate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812.
An 1812 Art Collection of Collectors’ Edition Prints has been designed to represent a site of activity, a moment in history, during the War of 1812. The Collection illustrates a journey following six trails traversing through Niagara on the interactive map at www.discover1812.com.
“St. Mark’s Church Cemetery” by Audrey Fawn is available as an art card, easel display card, 8×10 print and 16×20 print. It also includes the following narrative on the back of the piece:
“St. Mark’s Church has been a place of worship since the late 18th century and its burial grounds even predate that. The Church’s records start in 1792 when the Reverend Robert Addison arrived from Britain. Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoe, John Butler and Major General Sir Isaac Brock were all parishioners. The Church was used by the British as a hospital in 1812 and by the Americans as a barracks in 1813. The cemetery was the scene of several battles during the War and the musket and rifle trenches used then are still visible today.”
Some originals from this collectors’ series are available. For custom sizes printed to your order please contact Canadian Art Cards at 905-563-8821.
