Canadian Art Cards has partnered with the Niagara 1812 Legacy Council to commemorate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812.

An 1812 Art Collection of Collectors’ Edition Prints has been designed to represent a site of activity, a moment in history, during the War of 1812. The Collection illustrates a journey following six trails traversing through Niagara on the interactive map at www.discover1812.com.

“Fort Niagara in Winter” by Peter Rindlisbacher is available as an art card, easel display card, 8×10 print and 16×20 print. It also includes the following narrative on the back of the piece:

“Capture of Fort Niagara – In the early morning of December 19th, 1813, a force under Colonel John Murray, consisting of detachments of the 100th and 41st Regiments. Royal Scots, Royal Artillery and Canadian militia, embarked in bateaux at the foot of this ravine. Crossing silently to a point above Youngstown, New York, they attacked Fort Niagara killing or capturing its American garrison.”
